Exploring the Charm of Rural Illinois: A Winter Day Date Road Trip

We've all been there... it is the middle of winter and cabin fever starts to settle in. You'd like to go out but you are not sure if there are even anything to do during the winter time.


Well all it takes is a little bit of research and you can definitely have a great winter season. Additionally, we like to do these activities during the day time so we are in bed by 9:00pm. You get to have a date and you are home by bed time... WIN WIN!


Welcome to our Winter Day Date series!


We usually plan our day dates on Saturdays and leave Georgia at Dave's house for day care so she is home alone while we explore. We start around 9:00 am and we are usually done with the attractions by lunch.


Demoulin Museum

We asked the host of the museum if there is a car shop near by that can give us a jump. Unfortunately there was not any so we had started to call our insurance company to look for a a shop for us but the museum's owner actually drove to us and gave us a jump. Super nice people!


Highland Diner

After Demoulin museum we were ready for breakfast... it is really lunch time but we like having breakfast food for lunch on weekends so we headed to Highland Diner in Highland, IL. They do not have any vegan option but they were able to make me a veggie omelette and it was very good. Service was excellent!


Soul Asylum Museum
